New Year’s events in the Coachella Valley

Several areas in the Coachella Valley are holding events to ring in the new year.

The biggest is the Spa Resort New Year’s Eve block party in Palm Springs. More than 15,000 people are expected to fill the outdoor venue of the Casino Sunday night. The event starts at 8 p.m. with Plain White T’s scheduled to take the stage at 10:30 p.m. followed by a fireworks show.

The Living Desert is hosting the “Mildly Wild New Year’s Eve Celebration.” The event is from 6 pm to 10 pm. It features animal encounters, LED light choreography and various balancing & acrobatic acts. A champagne toast to the New Year at 9 p.m.

Dringk at the River has their grand opening on New Year’s Eve. The restaurants will have $5, $10 and $15 menu items, along with cocktails, beer and wine for $5 all day. The restaurant opens at 11 am to 1 am.

January 1, recreational marijuana is officially legal for adult use in California. News Channel 3’s I-Team investigator Karen Devine found out how valley cities and dispensaries are getting prepared for that day.
