Vision plan introduced for Salton Sea’s future
The future of the Salton Sea has been laid out in a conceptual plan.
On Thursday, during the 2018 SoCal Energy, Water + Green Living Summit in Rancho Mirage, Riverside County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez introduced a Salton Sea vision for locally financed infrastructure projects to protect the northern end of the Sea.

The vision was created using statistics gathered from a study conducted by the Greater Palm Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The county hopes to create a significant environmental, recreation and economic development resource again for locals and tourists.
“The first project is a barrier that would follow contours of the shore. The second, would be an optional one, which is the Whitewater River. Which would allow inflows of water stemming from the Whitewater River,” Perez said.
County officials will be holding several more gatherings this month to discuss the vision plan.
