Winter Storm Warning
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Coachella Valley area mountains through 10 PM tonight as a late winter storm system brings rain and snow to Southern California.
With the snow level dropping to 2000-feet, significant snow accumulation is expected.
Coachella Valley Rain Estimates!
As a cold front moves East over SoCal, scattered showers are a possibility this morning into the afternoon. And with very cold air in the upper-levels, we’re not ruling out a couple of thunderstorms today.@KESQ pic.twitter.com/GQnyoDsnX5

Cities affected include Crestline, Lake Arrowhead, Big Bear City, Big Bear Lake, Running Springs, Wrightwood, Idyllwild, Pine Cove, Julian, and Pine Valley. Chains may be required. Because the snow level is so low, a few flurries are possible in the foothills of the High Desert as well. Expect gusty winds too.
On and off scattered showers are still a possibility for the Coachella Valley and High Desert, and with extremely cold air in the upper-levels, a couple of thunderstorms may pop-up as well this afternoon.
The storm system will clear out tonight and drier air with some sunshine will return for Wednesday and Thursday. Another cold front arrives Friday bringing with it gusty winds, cool temps, scattered SoCal showers and more mountain snow.
