Three injured in Cathedral City collision
Three people were hospitalized early Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle traffic collision in Cathedral City. The driver and two occupants who are elderly sustained minor to moderate injuries, were alert at the scene and taken to Desert Regional Medical Center according to Chief Walker of the Cathedral City Police Department.
Police and firefighters were called to the intersection of Gerald Ford Drive at Date Palm Drive at 4:45 a.m.
A driver in an SUV crashed into a signal light pole, knocking it to the ground. Cathedral City Public Works is currently on the scene removing the traffic pole from the roadway.
A passenger and the vehicle’s driver were both taken to a hospital, the passenger with injuries, the driver complaining of pains.
Three people were in the vehicle when the crash happened.
Date Palm Drive’s northbound lanes were closed as police investigated, and the SUV was placed onto a flat-bed tow truck.
It’s southbound lanes remained open.
All traffic lanes were reopened at 6:15 a.m.
