Riverside DA PIO: Court going on record in Pinyon Pines murder trial tomorrow, ‘not for verdicts’

After weeks of seeming stagnation, a bit of noteworthy news has come out of the Pinyon Pines triple murder trial. The court will go on record tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m., according to a Riverside County District Attorney. The proceedings will not be for verdicts.

The jury finished its ninth day of deliberations today. During today’s session, the jury requested a read back of Tiffany Teasdale’s testimony. Teasdale is Becky Friedli’s older sister.

Additionally, Cristin Smith’s September 2006 interviews with detectives were read back to the jury.

It is unclear if they will return for deliberations tomorrow.

Cristin Smith and Robert Pape are both charged with three counts of first-degree murder with special circumstance allegations of taking multiple lives. They face life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted of killing Becky Friedli, her mom, Vicki Friedli, and the latter’s boyfriend, Jon Hayward, on the night of Sept. 17, 2006.
