Student Athlete of the Week – David Talley
David Talley has the ability to lower the shoulder or he can just take it up top. He looks a little like Tim Tebow on the football field, and whats under the helmet.
“I guess I have been referred to it a few times. It’s cool I really admire that guy he’s a really strong Christian,” David Talley said.
Even more so with his off the field passion.
“Lead a bible study so I really like getting involved with the church and everything. It’s really fun to me,” Talley said.
The senior has had a fantastic career in the Rattler’s uniform.
“David Talley is a special human being. He’s a man of character, integrity, he’s a great teammate, and a great leader,” LD Matthews said.
Some playing time as a freshman and then his sophomore year helped take his team to the CIF Finals. As a junior to semifinals, but he has still flown under the radar a bit here in the valley.
“We’ve had a kid named Marques Prior here for a long time, and people probably didn’t realize how special of a player David Talley was,” Matthews said.
The unquestioned leader here in his senior year.
“I try not to use the leadership to intimidate everybody. Just try to use it to lift everybody up and bring them to the level that they could be playing at,” Talley said.
“Leading a bunch of young kids that have never had a lot of experience playing varsity,” Matthews said.
Their captain is also leading the way in the classroom.
“Overall I have a 4.3 GPA,” Talley said.
Someday might be leading the troops on to the battle field.
“Looking at going into the Army, try to go ROTC. I think that would be really cool to serve our military, this great country,” Talley said.
