Trees & power lines catch fire in Indio, blaze now contained

Cal Fire crews were able to quickly contain a blaze this morning burning near the intersection of Young’s Lane and Highway 111 in Indio.

Cal Fire received a call of trees and power lines ablaze at around 8:30 a.m. this morning. Firefighters arrived on scene seven minutes later and were able to contain the fire quickly, by 8:41 a.m.

No structures were damaged as a result of the fire. There were no reports of injuries.

Crews from the Imperial Irrigation District have been called to the scene to inspect the power lines. There are no reports of power outages at this time.

Fire crews are expected to remain on scene until about 11 a.m. to finish scene mop-up.
