Coachella man fatally struck by train near Thermal identified

A Coachella man was killed Thursday after being struck by a train in an unincorporated area of the Coachella Valley between Mecca and Thermal.

39-year-old Crescenio Carrasco of Coachella died at the scene, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau.

The incident, which was reported at 11:11 a.m., happened near the intersection of Avenue 62 and Grapefruit Boulevard.

Carrasco was struck by the train at approximately 11:09 a.m and died at 11:25 a.m.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
