Turpin’s Perris Home For Auction

The Perris home where David and Louise Turpin are accused of imprisoning and torturing 12 of their 13 children went up for auction Saturday, though the listing did not disclose its lurid history.

The home, at 160 Muir Woods Road, was foreclosed on in November and was listed on hudsonandmarshall.com with a minimum bid amount of $177,255 by an unknown lender. By 4:00 p.m. the bidding had reached $183,255, though an undisclosed reserve price had not been met.

Although the alleged crimes were not included in the property’s description, a customer service representative for Hudson and Marshall told the Press-Enterprise that the home’s past had been brought to their attention, and the company asked the property owner to provide that information.

However, state law only requires owners selling a property to disclose deaths that have occurred in the previous three years and if there has been any kind of exposure to a controlled substance. The couple have been locked up since they were arrested in January and won’t face trial until Sept. 3, 2019.

They are accused of shackling, starving and beating their children, who ranged in age from two to 29 at the time sheriff’s deputies found them. David, 57, and Louise, 50, collectively face 88 felony charges and are being held at Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside in lieu of $12 million bail each.

The auction for the four-bedroom, 2,388-square-foot home ends on Wednesday.
