Pedestrian struck and killed in Desert Hot Springs

An elderly man was pronounced dead after being struck by a vehicle crossing the street in Desert Hot Springs Thursday evening.

Desert Hot Springs Police Department Chief Dale Mondary told News Channel 3 the man was in the crosswalk when a vehicle missed the stop sign and struck him.

Mondary said the driver stopped and immediately called the police. They are cooperating with the investigation.

Drivers are advised to find an alternate route as the intersection will be shut down for “several hours.”
