Cathedral City shooting under investigation

The Cathedral City Police Department is in Palm Springs investigating a shooting Thursday night.

The Palm Springs Police Department confirmed just after 9:20 p.m. there was a gunshot victim in the area of E Ramon Road and Kirk Douglas Way, however, a Palm Springs Police Department spokesperson said the shooting originally occurred somewhere in Cathedral City.

The Cathedral City Police Department later confirmed that officers received a 911 call at 9:05 p.m. from “a female stating her boyfriend has been shot.”

According to a news release by CCPD, the man, and an unidentified woman were sitting in a parked vehicle on the 32600 Block of Wishing Well Trail. A vehicle drove by with an occupant shooting at their vehicle. The man in the parked vehicle was shot at least once in the upper torso.

The man was taken to a local hospital by an unidentified person, according to Cathedral City Police. While the victim was being transported, the Palm Springs Fire Department meet the vehicle at East Ramon Road & Kirk Douglas Way, to provide medical treatment and take the victim to the hospital.

There was no word on the injured man’s condition.The suspect vehicle was driven off southbound on Wishing Well Trail. There was no vehicle description provided by police.
