School supplies drive at Walmart in Palm Desert

News Channel 3 and Sunline Transit Agency team up for a school supplies drive Thursday.

“Pack the Bus” is happening for one day only at the Walmart on Monterey and Dinah Shore from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The goal is to have 1000 backpacks donated. Last year we were able to collect 900 backpacks.

“I know how expensive it can get,” Ashley Brito told News Channel 3 while making her donation. “Back to school can get really expensive with clothing, school supplies, backpacks especially and there is a lot of kids that don’t have any, so I just wanted to donate to give kids a chance to have a good first day of school,” she added.

All of the backpacks and school supplies donated will go to the Cathedral City Boys and Girls Club and will then be distributed to schools in the Coachella Valley. Come out and support our local students!
