Police arrest man for reckless driving, vandalism

Members of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Sheriff’s Takeover Racing Enforcement Team (S.T.R.E.E.T.) arrested a suspect on suspicion of reckless driving, vandalism, and evading law enforcement on Wednesday night.

On July 15 at around 9:50 p.m., Palm Desert deputies responded to a business on the 72000 block of Dinah Shore Drive for a report of a group of suspects vandalizing the parking lot by means of speed exhibition, using their vehicles.

The vehicles fled the scene when the deputies arrived, and a short pursuit followed. Deputies terminated the pursuit due to the reckless nature which the suspects were attempting to flee the deputies. The incident was then referred to the STREET team, who joined Palm Desert Sheriff’s deputies in their investigation.

On July 31, using evidence collected from the July 15 scene, law enforcement identified one of the primary suspect vehicles, conducted a traffic stop, and then took the suspect into custody.

According to county jail records, Jose Eduardo Rivera-Francisco, 20, of Cathedral City was arrested at 11:38 p.m. near the intersection of Ramon Road and Rattler Road.

At the time of this publication, Rivera-Francisco remained behind bars. He is being held in county’s Indio Jail on $10,000 bail. He faces a felony charge of reckless driving, a felony charge of vandalism causing $10,000 or more in damage, and a misdemeanor charge of evading law enforcement.

According to the sheriffs department, more arrests connected to this investigation are “eminent”. Francisco-Rivera’s car will be impounded for 30 days.

Unfortunately the RSO STREET Team has a secret weapon and positively identified the “alleged” suspect. While out and about in the desert… the STREET Team happened upon the “alleged” suspect and took him into custody for the “alleged” crimes of felony vandalism, reckless driving, and evading… “allegedly”. . #gonefor30days #onlytimewilltell #timeisonmysideyesitis #fullconfession #dontdothedonutsifyoucantdothetime #swingingitdowntothejail #dontdriftanddrive
