Elderly woman drowns in Palm Desert

An elderly woman was found in a pool at a Palm Desert community after drowning Tuesday afternoon.

According to Deputy Mike Vasquez of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, deputies received reports of the drowning at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the 53000 block of Calloway Lane, inside the Del Webb Sun City community.

Investigators do not believe the death is suspicious, Vasquez confirmed. The identity of the elderly woman will not be released to the public until next of kin are notified.
