Cathedral City kicks off 6th annual Hot Air Balloon Festival

The City of Cathedral City, Fantasy Balloon Flights and Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa are celebrating the 6th Annual Cathedral City Hot Air Balloon Festival and Food Truck Fiesta. 

On Friday morning, several hot air balloons will take off from a launch site located at D.R. Horton at Verano 67-840 Rio Vista Drive Cathedral City. While tickets to these early morning rides are sold out, anyone is welcome to stop by and watch. 

On Friday evening, from 7 - 8:30 p.m. there will be a “Balloon Glow Concert,” featuring “The Ron King Band with Barbara Morrison.” Attendees can enjoy music, drinks and dancing to the backdrop of a dozen hot air balloons in the sky. Tickets available at www.HotAirBalloonFest.com. 

On Saturday, hot air balloon activities begin at 6 a.m. with the inflation of 30 hot air balloons at Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort and Spa in Rancho Mirage. Around 7 a.m., the balloons will mass ascend into the sky one by one and float across the Coachella Valley. It’s free to stop by and watch, but attendees interested can also purchase balloon ride tickets here: www.HotAirBalloonFest.com. 

Also on Saturday, there will be tethered balloon rides in downtown Cathedral City from 9 - 11:00 a.m. at 68510 East Palm Canyon Drive. Attendees may purchase the tethered rides onsite for $25 for adults, $20 for kids ages 6 -12 years, and free for children aged 5 years and under with an adult ticket purchase. Tickets for tethered balloon rides are purchased on-site at the festival. 

The Food Truck Fiesta will also be happening Saturday from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. in Downtown Cathedral City. Admission is $5 per person and tickets are available at the door or online: www.HotAirBalloonFest.com

On Sunday, attendees can also purchase tickets for tethered hot air balloon rides at Big League Dreams Sports Park.
