One person has died and another seriously injured after car crashed into a tree in Thermal

THERMAL, Calif. -

The California Highway Patrol has confirmed to News Channel 3 that one person is dead after a car crashed into a tree overnight.

The Coroner's office identified the man who died as 24-year-old, Felipe Contreras of Thermal.

The crash happened Friday night at 11 p.m. on the 8800 block of Avenue 61.

CAL Fire says one victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and CHP confirmed that one person has died.

There are no other details available at this time. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
