USA Women's Marathon and Half Marathon

PALM DESERT, Calif. -

A new marathon race debuted Saturday in Palm Desert. The USA Women’s Marathon and Half Marathon brought a luxury experience to racers. News Channel 3’s Caitlin Thropay was there.

Hundreds of women and men ran either 13 or 26 miles in the first USA Women’s Marathon and Half Marathon in Palm Desert.

The race started at Civic Center Park and ended there as well.

After crossing the finish line a pretty iconic blue box was handed to each finisher.

“The Tiffany’s necklace, you’ve got to love this. This is the finish medal so talk about motivation ladies!" Lisa Kanazawa said.

After the race, many enjoyed mimosas and massages to relax after their victory.

“I enjoyed the mimosa and the food and the music obviously," Tessa Jennings told News Channel 3.

And every runner also received a Lululemon t-shirt.

While some were first-time marathon runners, others were veteran runners aiming for a winning streak.

“It’s actually my third half marathon in the last three weekends so I’m a little on the tired side but I made it through and it was really nice to have a beautiful course and beautiful weather this morning," Kanazawa said.

There was plenty of motivation and celebration throughout the entire race day.

“I am a very large Audrey Hepburn fan. She’s my inspiration. I’m all about feminist power so this is for all the women that ran today. Good job ladies!” Marcelina Hollender said after finishing 13 miles.
