Heading out of the Valley? Here’s your Sunday traffic update

Here's a quick traffic update, if you are planning on hitting the road traveling out of the valley on Sunday.

For the most part, all roads are open around the Coachella Valley and our local mountains, but there are some restrictions.

On Highway-74, toward Idyllwild, chains are required heading up the mountain from Palm Desert. CAL Trans says there are no exceptions. This is for the stretch of 74 from Mountain Center to Pinyon drive.

Toward the high desert, Highway 62 is currently closed from three miles west of US 95 to the Arizona state line. That's because of flooding. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route.

For Highway 243 from SR 74 to Lake Fulmor chains are required on all vehicles except four-wheel-drive vehicles with snow tires on all four wheels.
