Driver killed in single-vehicle crash on I-10
A man is dead following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 Monday evening.
The crash happened at around 5:40 p.m. on Interstate 10, between Date Palm Drive and N Gene Autry Trail.
California Highway Patrol officers at the scene told News Channel 3 the man was driving eastbound when he rolled into the center divider, ending up on the westbound side of the road. Police say the man wasn't wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
The man was transported to the hospital in critical condition. CHP later confirmed the man was pronounced dead. The man's identity has not been released and will not be until after next of kin is notified.
Police closed the #1 lane heading westbound for a short time, but the road is now back open.
