Fans, celebrities react to death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant after helicopter crash
Retired NBA superstar Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash along with eight other people in Calabasas Sunday morning.
The heartbreaking news sent shockwaves online with fans, presidents and celebrities taking to twitter to mourn the beloved 41-year-old basketball legend.
News Channel 3 spoke to visitors and residents who say they can't believe what happened Sunday in Calabasas.
"Horrible, horrible feeling to lose an icon like that," said Todd. "He's amazing."
"Especially going with his daughter to go to a camp that he was going to coach," said Jim Walker. "He was a great guy. It's very sad."
"Its very shocking. He's really young," said James Beck."We lost a legend today and I just pray that God grants comfort to his family."
More people reacting to the death included former president, Barack Obama, tweeted: "Kobe was a legend on the court and just getting started in what would have been just meaningful a second act."
Robert Iger, Ceo of Walt Disney, tweeted: "We mourn the tragic loss of Kobe Bryant ...a giant in sports and a person so full of life."
Ellen Degeneres reacted too.
And President Donald Trump tweeted too.
For others who spoke off-camera here in the valley, they described Bryant as a "hero" and some said they "looked up to him."
