Local Kobe Bryant fans react to memorial service

Kobe Bryant fans

All eyes were glued to television screens on Monday watching the Kobe Bryant memorial service.

News Channel 3 spoke with some Kobe fans at local sports bars and casinos and even some fans watching the memorial while getting their haircut. Everyone was very emotional remembering the NBA legend and his daughter Gianna.

"He touched a lot of lives," Vicki Valenzuela said while watching the memorial in a Kobe Bryant jersey. "Not only was he a great player, a good dad and we just watched him play and watch him grow up," she added.

There wasn't a dry eye during Vanessa Bryant's tribute to her daughter and husband.

“I have no idea how she kept it together," Kimberly Krausman said while watching the memorial and cutting hair at Sport Clips. "I cried when she talked about her daughter,” she said.

“This hits everyone," another person watching the memorial said. "For Vanessa, as a mother myself, I feel her pain as losing a child. I don’t know what I would do if I were to lose a child," Vivian Lopez shared.

Agua Caliente Resort and Casino in Rancho Mirage had a special viewing area for Kobe’s memorial.

“We tried to get tickets but we were the 60th caller and there were only 20,000 so we were on a waiting list and she started calling around so we called and they said we will definitely have it here,” Valenzuela said.

Fans around the valley also react to the other stars who spoke at the memorial-- like Michael Jordan.

“I loved his breakdown," Krausman said. "I loved the truth and the rawness of how he talked about it and Jimmy Kimmel. You could tell as much as he likes to laugh, he had a really hard time keeping it together and it just shows you the different levels on which he touched people,” she said.

It was such a beautiful memorial. We spoke with many people who were too emotional to go on camera. Kobe really made a difference to so many people, no matter where you live.
