Gene Autry Trail back open after five-vehicle accident
A traffic collision investigation blocked traffic on Gene Autry Trail in both directions near Interstate 10 Monday morning.
Five vehicles were involved in the collision.
According to Sgt. Mike Casavan, a woman was thrown from the wreckage. She sustained major injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
Palm Springs Police reported a road closure at 7:45 a.m. southbound Gene Autry Trail from the Interstate to Via Escuela.
The closure was later expanded to both directions of travel and expected to continue for several hours, according to a department spokesman Sgt. Mike Casavan.
The road was reopened at around 12:18 p.m.
There was no immediate word on the collision's cause or if anyone else was injured.
