Bernie Sanders supporters volunteer time canvassing all day on Super Tuesday
It was a busy Super Tuesday for local Bernie Sanders supporters. Dozens volunteered their time to help out the Coachella Valley Office of Bernie Sanders. Volunteers took to the streets for a final push for their candidate.
Oscar Ortiz, the field organizer for the Coachella Valley Bernie Sanders committee expressed his excitement to News Channel 3 during election day.

“It’s pretty exciting so we’ll see how it goes tonight,” he said.
For him and 20 other volunteers in the valley it was a race against time.
“I had been donating to Bernie but coming down to these last seconds, that’s when I decided to jump in,” Armando Zamora, one volunteer said while knocking on doors in Coachella.
“Today we started before 7 in the morning," Ortiz said. "We were checking all the polling locations making sure everything opens on time and also questioning everyone who’s working at the polls to make sure everything is going as legally required,” he added.

They went door to door canvassing up until polls closed.
“It’s one of the most important things because you get face to face value," Zamora said. "A lot of people we visit don’t get other candidates' volunteers going to their door,” he said.
Volunteers used their voices to help guide last-minute voters, as they hoped to gain more Sanders supporters.
“His policies are really good," Zamora said. "From 2016 to now he’s been very consistent,” he added.
“I just feel like he has a very wide base of support right now, a lot of young people, a lot of minority votes, a lot of working-class people that are backing him,” Ortiz said.
Votes are still coming in. It will be just a matter of time before we know which democratic candidate will come out on top.
