SpaceX launch delayed to Saturday due to weather

Bad weather postponed the first launch of NASA astronauts from Florida in nine years. The next attempt will be on Saturday.

The Space-X Falcon rocket was set to launch Tuesday afternoon from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Before the delay, Elon Musk's space exploration company was going to be the first private company to carry astronauts to the International Space Station.

Veteran Astronauts Bob Hurley and Bob Behnken will make the trip aboard the Falcon 9 on Saturday if weather doesn't scrub the launch.

The private company Space-X has partnered with NASA for this and future missions with a multi-billion dollar investment of NASA funds to facilitate the launch. President Trump is expected to attend today's event at the Cape.

If successful, the mission will help curb America's reliance on Russian spacecraft to ferry astronauts to and from the International Space Station. The United States has not operated a manned mission since the end of the Space Shuttle program in 2011.
