Motorist killed in Thousand Palms I-10 crash

A motorist was killed Thursday night following a single vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 10.

The California Highway Patrol said an 88-year-old man was driving on the freeway near Monterey Avenue when his vehicle hit a guardrail, then an exit sign, and flipped upside down into a ravine.

The crash was reported shortly after 8:00 p.m.

There was no immediate word on any other injuries, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
