January Coachella Valley Spotlight recipient: CREATE Center for the Arts

The Coachella Valley Spotlight recipient for January is CREATE Center for the Arts.

CREATE is a local non-profit organization with a mission to provide knowledge, equipment, and space necessary for residents of the Coachella Valley to make their creative vision a reality.

With the $25,000 grant, CREATE plans to invest a portion of it into equipping the various studio spaces with university-level, artist-quality tools, and supplies. Renovations would include creating the only publicly accessible photography darkroom in the Coachella Valley and expanding the existing resources in printmaking, painting, ber arts, graphic design, 3D modeling, and digital video.

CREATE also empowers and celebrates the local arts community by providing artists with opportunities to network with like-minded individuals and share their creations through community exhibitions, performances, and events. A portion of the grant money will go directly towards funding community and afterschool programs while working in close collaboration with other nonprofits in the Coachella Valley to rebuild the local creative community that was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
