2 dead in Missouri flash flood; tornado threat in the South

GROVESPRING, Mo (AP) — A car was swept away and two passengers drowned in Missouri during torrential rains that were part of a severe weather system roaring across parts of the Midwest and South. Meanwhile, a suspected tornado touched down in north Texas as a storm system moving eastward threatens to spawn tornadoes. The National Weather Service is forecasting severe weather into Friday evening mostly from the lower Mississippi Valley to the Ohio Valley. The greatest tornado threat was expected in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. Officials were searching for a missing person after flash flooding in another Missouri county. In Texas, an emergency management official says a likely tornado damaged some homes, but he had no reports of injuries.
