Car strikes power pole on Palm Drive

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Palm Drive and Varner Road near Desert Hot Springs just after 10:00 am after a car hit a power pole near the intersection, which caused power lines to fall on the roadway.

Emergency crews were able to move the pole off the roadway in about 90 minutes. Some lanes at the intersection were closed while crews cleared the crash scene. SCE crews were also called out to make necessary repairs. There have been no reported power outages in that area by SCE.

All lanes have since reopened.
