Tropical storm fallout causes cancellations, uncertainty for PSUSD football teams
Due to Tropical Storm Hilary, schools in the Palm Springs Unified School District are closed through Wednesday.
Since school is closed, so are extracurricular activities, such as football.
In fact, Rancho Mirage has decided to cancel their home game Friday against Aliso Niguel.
"We can't practice until Thursday," said Rattlers head football coach LD Matthews. "We can't properly prepare for a game with only one day of practice."
Palm Springs has also cancelled their game.
Indians athletic director Steven Avina confirmed via text on Wednesday morning.
"We are not playing Thursday or Friday. We will look to re-schedule for a week 5 game," said Avina.
Meanwhile, Desert Hot Springs is still monitoring the situation.
"We are evaluating everything but are hopeful for our game Friday. We're looking at everything day-to-day and should know more later in the week," said DHS athletic director Kai Lyles.
