Desert Hot Springs man accused of sexually assaulting two ride-share drivers

A Desert Hot Springs man was in custody Tuesday morning and being held without bail accused of sexually assaulting at least two rideshare drivers, and police believe there might be other potential victims.

Police arrested Luis Enrique Lora, 20, on August 28, and booked him into the Riverside County Jail in Indio on charges of attempted rape by force, sexual battery, and false imprisonment.

They had responded a week and a half earlier to a driver from a ride-sharing service who said they'd been sexually assaulted, according to a statement.

The alleged attack happened at the end of the ride by a customer who'd hired the driver on August 18th. A struggle occurred in the vehicle before the suspect ran off.

Lora's original bail of $500,000 was not required when a judge released him from jail on his own recognizance pending charges by the Riverside County District Attorney's Office.

Police arrested Lora again last Thursday, September 28, while investigating a second alleged sexual battery involving a ride-share driver the night before.

His current bail is $100,000 and he is charged with attempted rape by force, sexual battery, false imprisonment, and committing a felony while on bail.
