Orphaned mountain lions thriving one year after being rescued by The Living Desert

It's been one year since Rose and Sage, two orphaned mountains lions, were taken in by The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in Palm Desert.

The cubs were found separately in Northern California in dire circumstances. Rose was found first in April 2022. She was malnourished on the side of a road in San Mateo and weighed just 8.8 lbs.

A couple months later Sage was found in a Pescadero high school classroom under a teacher's desk. The pair were taken to the Oakland Zoo where they were cared for temporarily until finding their forever home in the Coachella Valley in September 2022.

Now one year later, the mountain lions are thriving and have fans who tune all over the world to keep up with the pair of big cats on the zoo's Instagram.
