Palm Springs Police hosts National Night Out event
Palm Springs Police hosted a National Night Out event Tuesday at the Palm Springs Power Baseball field.
The department's SWAT team Search and Rescue Unit and Mounted Enforcement Unit were there to interact with the community.
National Night Out is a nationwide initiative aimed at enhancing the relationship between law enforcement and the communities they serve. It provides an opportunity for residents to come together, get to know their local police officers, and learn about the various specialties and resources available within the department.
"So one of the fortunate things for the city of Palm Springs is we have over 50 organized neighborhood, so there's a lot of interaction between the individual neighborhoods and the police department. But this one is for the entire community to come out and have more interaction with all the different facets of the police department," said PSPD Lt. Gustavo Araiza.
The Palm Springs Fire Department, C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team), and other other community partners were also in attendance.
This is the 40th year of National Night Out activities with over 17,000 communities partnering for the event.
