MGN

A 21-year-old inmate from Moreno Valley died due to complications from an illness, authorities said today.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Corrections Central Investigations unit reported an in-custody death at 7:30 p.m. Friday, according to the sheriff's department.

Shaundale Booker was being held at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta when he was admitted to a local hospital to be treated for a medical condition.

Authorities said his condition worsened.

"Hospital medical staff performed life-saving measures; however, he was ultimately pronounced deceased by attending hospital physicians. There were no signs of foul play,'' according to a statement from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Booker's medical condition was not identified, and his family was notified of his death.

Booker's charges included lewd acts with a minor and possession of obscene images of a minor.

No further information was immediately available.
