Two 18-year-olds from Las Vegas arrested in Desert Hot Springs park shooting murder

Desert Hot Springs Police have announced the arrests of two suspects in a December murder investigation

The two suspects in the crime, 18, were arrested this week in Las Vegas after a man was found shot last month at Mission Springs Park off Park Lane, according to a police statement.

The Riverside County District Attorney's Office confirmed one of the suspects, Emanuel Castaneda Martinez, 18, of Las Vegas, has been charged with murder.

There has been no case filing decision made yet on the second suspect, according to the DA's office.

That victim, identified as Matthew Rios, was pronounced dead shortly after the attack which happened Sunday, December 17th at 7 p.m.

Desert Hot Springs Police Detectives had help from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Detectives, and that department's Criminal Apprehension Team as they served arrest warrants at two locations in the city of Las Vegas.

Both suspects were booked into jail on murder charges and are being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center awaiting extradition proceedings.

Police have not yet identified the victim, or said what led up to the attack.
