46-year-old man killed in rollover crash on I-10 in Beaumont

UPDATE March 1st: The Riverside County Coroner's Office has identified the passenger who died in the crash as 46-year-old Sandy Marks of Yucaipa.

One person was killed in a rollover crash on Interstate 10 in Beaumont Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened just before 4:00 p.m. on the I-10 west of Highland Springs Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 19-year-old was driving an Infiniti FX35 in the #4 lane at an undetermined speed.

For reasons still under investigation, the Infiniti veered off the roadway and overturned onto the Highland Springs Avenue off-ramp, CHP said.

The impact caused the driver and his passenger to be ejected from the vehicle.

Both males were transported to the hospital. The passenger was pronounced deceased at the hospital. There was no word on the condition of the driver.

Interstate-10 eastbound to Highland Springs Avenue off-ramp was closed for approximately one hour. It is still under investigation at this time if alcohol or drugs played a role in this crash.
