City of Palm Desert continues sand build up mitigation efforts

A First Alert Weather Alert has been called due to incoming gusty winds that are likely to impact road conditions, visibility and air quality.

Windy days have led to serious sand build up on roads and sidewalks in the City of Palm Desert, namely on Dinah Shore Drive.

Last summer, the city implemented new mitigation efforts like weekly street sweeping and installing organic ground cover to cut down on the rate of build up.

You can watch Samantha Lomibao's coverage of these mitigation efforts when they were first introduced here.

Today, News Channel 3's Tatum Larsen will be checking in with the city's Public Works Department for an update on the effectiveness of these mitigation efforts and any possible changes ahead of this week's gusty winds.
