Motorcyclist killed in late-night crash on Gene Autry Trail identified

A 31-year-old motorcyclist is dead after suffering fatal injuries in a collision with a vehicle, shutting down Gene Autry Trail for hours Sunday night.  

According to the Palm Springs Police Department, the motorcyclist was heading north on Gene Autry Trail around 8 p.m. Sunday and collided with a vehicle that was heading in the opposite direction and making a left turn onto East Via Escuela.

The motorcyclist, identified as Caleb Goodrich, 31, of Auburn, died in the crash. The other driver, a 64-year-old Rancho Mirage resident, stayed at the scene and was taken to a local hospital with ``moderate injuries,'' police said. Investigators determined that no drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
