One dead, one juvenile injured after overnight shooting in Banning; Minor suspect in custody

An overnight shooting in Banning left one person dead and a juvenile injured.

The shooting happened just after midnight at the 700 block of N. Hargrave Street and Wilson Street.

Officers were dispatched to the scene at 12:36 AM and located a male adult suffering multiple gunshot wounds upon arrival. Medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, yet the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Banning PD identified the victim as 18-year-old Darnell Lovings of Banning.

The second victim, a juvenile boy, was found suffering non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital.

The suspect has been arrested and placed into juvenile hall.

A homicide investigation remains ongoing.
