Police to ramp up resources this weekend due to motorcyclist event in Palm Springs
The Palm Springs Police Department will temporarily ramp up police resources over the weekend as the city prepares to host a group of motorcyclists, the department announced today.
The additional measures will include a helicopter intended to maintain traffic and crowd safety, according to a statement. Officials warned of anticipated delays along Palm Canyon and Indian Canyon drives, extending north.
“Double check before you change lanes before you make a left, turn right, just make sure it’s clear. Drive with extra caution, allow yourself some extra time to get to your location. Wind is always a factor and wind with a motorcycle, it never is good so if you are near a motorcycle and it’s windy. Just be aware that wind may push them closer to you,” said Frank Browning of the Palm Springs Police Department.
Police did not specify the reason for the motorcyclists' gathering, although they anticipated "increased activity" during the event. It was also unclear how many riders were expected to attend.
