Suspected DUI crash leaves one person in critical condition Saturday night in Cathedral City

KESQ

A man was arrested for driving under the influence after police said he crashed into another car Saturday night in Cathedral City.

The two-vehicle crash was reported at around 10:40 p.m. at the intersection of Date Palm Drive & Buddy Rogers Avenue.

Police said officers arrived on scene and found two vehicles with major damage.

One driver suffered severe injuries and was treated by Cathedral City Fire Department Paramedics. He was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver at fault, a 46-year-old Cathedral City resident, did not stay at the scene, call 911 or provide any medical aid to the victim. Police said the driver ran away and was later located and taken into custody without incident.

It appears alcohol, drugs or a combination of both were contributing factors in the collision. He was subsequently transported to the Riverside County Jail in Indio for booking.
