Desert Hot Springs checkpoint results in three DUI arrests, 25 citations

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) - Authorities arrested three people on suspicion of driving under the influence at a DUI checkpoint, the Desert Hot Springs Police Department announced today.
The checkpoint was held from 6 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday at a location with notable data patterns of impaired driving-related crashes in the city, according to the department.
In addition to the aforementioned arrests, officers also arrested four drivers with a suspended or revoked license and issued 25 citations for driving unlicensed.
The next checkpoint will be held in June, police said. Â Â
Impaired driving includes driving under the influence of alcohol, marijuana and some prescription medication and over-the-counter drugs. Â Â
A first-time DUI charge could cost drivers about $13,500 in fines and penalties, according to police. Impaired drivers could also have their license suspended.
