Xavier Prep boys water polo earns three-peat; CIF-SS girls volleyball and flag football first round

COACHELLA VALLEY, Calif. (KESQ) -- It was a busy Tuesday in October with the DEL boys water polo championship and CIF-SS first round games for girls volleyball and flag football.

In boys water polo, Xavier Prep defeated rival Palm Desert 16-12 for their third consecutive DEL championship.

In girls volleyball and flag football, our local teams struggled in the first round with just two advancing.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL - CIF-SS FIRST ROUND

  • Division 2: Bishop Montgomery 3, Xavier Prep 0
  • Division 4: San Jacinto 3, Palm Desert 0
  • Division 6: Oakwood 3, Desert Christian Academy 0
  • Division 6: South Hills 3, Coachella Valley 1
  • Division 6: Bishop Diego 3, Indio 1
  • Division 10: San Luis Obispo Classical 3, Desert Chapel 0
  • Division10: Desert Hot Springs 3, Gorman Charter 0

The Golden Eagles were the lone girls volleyball program to win their respective first round matchup.

GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL - CIF-SS FIRST ROUND

  • Division 2: Portola 7, Shadow Hills 6
  • Division 6: Palm Desert 18, Indian Springs 9
  • Division 6: Estancia 33, Palm Springs 6

The Aztecs were the lone girls flag football program to win their respective first round matchup.
