Mensch International Foundation to hold Hanukkah concert and Mensch Awards

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) - Hanukkah begins this Sunday, and the Mensch International Foundation, which calls Palm Springs home, is gearing up for a large Hanukkah concert.

The event will be held on Tuesday, December 16, at 7:00 p.m. at Temple Isaiah, located at 332 West Alejo Road in Palm Springs.

In addition to the concert, the organization will also present its Mensch Awards. This year, the awards will be given posthumously to Palm Springs philanthropist Harold Matzner, and to 100-year-old World War II veteran Burt Spivak.

Mensch International Foundation Founder Steven Geiger says of the awards, "I think young people have to know that the cup is half full. There are decent and good people everywhere, and when we award somebody that's an example for young people that he's a good guy."

News Channel 3's Peter Daut spoke with Geiger to learn more about the event.

Proceeds from the event will go to help the former hostages in Israel.
