Motorcyclist killed in late-night crash with big rig in Indio

INDIO, Calif. (KESQ) - Indio police are investigating a fatal crash involving a big rig truck and a motorcyclist that occurred late Thursday night.

Officers responded to the crash just after 11 p.m. on Monroe Street, south of Interstate 10. Police say a 33-year-old man riding a motorcycle was found in the roadway with severe injuries. He was pronounced dead early Friday morning.

The driver of the big rig remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.

Monroe Street, which was temporarily closed during the investigation, has since reopened.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities have not released the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.
