PINE COVE, Calif. (KESQ) - A person was burned today in a fire at a Pine Cove property, requiring an airlift to a regional trauma center for treatment.

The fire was reported at 12:53 p.m. Thursday in the 25200 block of Wrightwood Drive, less than a quarter-mile west of Highway 243, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said several engine crews were sent to the location and found the victim, whose identity was not disclosed, with unspecified burns.

The blaze had already been doused. The circumstances weren't immediately clear, including the extent of damage to the property.

Paramedics treated the injured resident at the scene and determined the burns required further attention at a hospital, according to the fire department.

At 1:40 p.m., a REACH Air Medical Services helicopter crew retrieved the victim from a makeshift landing zone in a forest clearing known as Dutch Flats, about two miles east of where the residential fire occurred.

The victim, who was in stable condition, was transported to Arrowhead Regional Burn Center for treatment.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
