Showers Tapering Off, Drying into Final Weekend of 2025
Tonight, bands of showers will continue to slowly move southeast through Southern California with a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm early this evening before rain tapers off overnight. While most activity stays to our west and in the mountains, there is a small chance some of these lingering showers could still roll through the Coachella Valley this evening. Minimal rain totals outside the San Gorgonio Pass and San Bernadino County Mountains.

We are still watching several wash road closures Friday night.

Skies will gradually clear late tonight, allowing seasonally cool lows to dip into the upper 40s.
This weekend looks drier as high pressure builds, bringing mostly sunny skies and fairly seasonable temperatures--just a degree or two below average.
For travelers.... Gusty Santa Ana winds will develop Sunday through Tuesday, with northeast winds occasionally strong near passes and canyon areas. Biggest impact for winds will be along coastal mountain slopes and our EW/WE passes. These offshore winds will lead to a slight warming trend though, with highs climbing into the low 70s by Monday into mid next week.
By midweek, attention turns to another potential low pressure system approaching from the southwest. This could bring increasing clouds and a chance for rain from Wednesday through Friday, though timing and rainfall amounts till remain a bit uncertain.
Wednesday and Thursday look like the warmest day of the period, running a few degrees above normal for late December. So, for NYE and New Years Day look for a chance of showers locally. Keep those umbrellas handy as we close out 2025 and ring in the new year!
