Police search for driver responsible for fatal crash in Indio

 INDIO, Calif. (KESQ) -Indio Police continue to investigate a fatal vehicle-versus-pedestrian hit-and-run crash that occurred on New Year's Eve. The crash was reported just before 9 p.m. near the area of Van Buren Street south of Dr. Carreon Boulevard.

Responding officers found a man in the roadway with significant injuries, according to the Indio Police Department. Paramedics attempted lifesaving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect vehicle was later located at an apartment complex in the 47000 block of Van Buren Street, but it was unoccupied, according to the Indio PD. The department's Traffic Division has assumed the investigation. No identifying information on the suspect was immediately available.
