Cathedral City’s search for new city manager nearing its end

KESQ

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. (KESQ) - The search for Cathedral City's next city manager is nearly complete, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

The city council is holding a closed session meeting on Tuesday to conduct interviews with finalists for the vacant position.

City officials said a second Special Meeting has also been noticed for Wednesday at 1 p.m. if needed.

"No one has been named at this time. Any selection would occur during an open public meeting when a contract is finalized, so we're not there yet. This process is being conducted by the City Council, not staff, so we're taking their lead on this one," Ryan Hunt, spokesperson for the city.

Former city manager Charles McClendon retired in September after 11 years with the city.  Anne Ambrose was appointed interim city manager that month. Ambrose has been the assistant city manager since January 2023.
