New details emerging after paraglider suffers major injuries in Mecca

MECCA, Calif. (KESQ) A paraglider suffered major injuries after crashing into power lines Monday afternoon in Mecca, according to authorities.

The crash was reported just before 5:10 p.m. near Johnson Street and Highway 111. CAL FIRE said the paraglider was airlifted to a hospital for treatment. The person’s current condition has not been released.

Officials have not said what led to the crash or how long the paraglider was entangled in the lines.

News Channel 3 has reached out to CAL FIRE for additional details about the response and investigation. We have also contacted the paraglider’s family for comment and are awaiting a response.
