Workers face dust hazards as strong winds sweep through area

COACHELLA VALLEY, Calif. (KESQ) - Gusty winds whipping through the region are creating difficult conditions for outdoor workers.

Local landscapers say the constant wind is picking up dirt and debris, reducing visibility and making it harder to breathe during shifts. Some workers might need to pause tasks or put on face coverings to cope with the conditions.

Health experts warn that prolonged exposure to airborne dust can irritate the lungs and eyes, especially for those with respiratory conditions. Employers are being urged to provide protective gear such as masks and goggles and allow for additional breaks when conditions worsen.
